　　The PlayStation Vita is still a couple of months away from reaching North American and European shores, but Sony’s latest handheld already arrived in Japan three days ago now.

　　Sony’s sales performance in Japan is generally high, consistently making the top slots in monthly sales data published by Enterbrain – and the launch of the PlayStation Vita doesn’t appear to be any exception.

　　Famitsu reports (via Andriasang) that Enterbain sales data puts the sales figures of the PlayStation Vita at 321,407 since it was launched on December 17.

　　Sony recently said it would be shipping in the neighborhood of 500,000 units (including both the WiFi-only and 3G models) initially, but other reports from outside sources suggest that Sony may have bumped that number up by 200,000. Either way, Enterbrain’s sales data means that much of the initial shipment was sold within the first two days.

　　By comparison, the Nintendo 3DS managed to sell 371,326 units in its first two days on shelves, putting the Vita fairly close to its competitor in regards to sales. The original PlayStation Portable, on the other hand, sold 166,074 units in its first day on the market.
